We've seen on the previous page how the Oda first came into Owari and broke into two main branches. The family history before this point in time is sketchy at best, in no small part because Nobunaga re-wrote it in the middle of his career.
The family history - and by extension the history of Owari - is a little bit more clear-cut from this point on. At the same time it starts to get complex, with plenty of twists and turns.
It is pretty clear that shortly after getting responsibility for Owari, Tsunetake moved into (built?) Orizu Castle (in modern Inazawa City, Aichi Prefecture). He lived there and Orizu was the seat of his administration.
Was Orizu castle already there, or did Tsunetake build it?
In 1405, Kiyosu Castle was built. Nominally it was built as a bulwarks for Orizu castle and it was also technically the Shiba's castle in Owari. This is where the "Yamato-no-Kami" branch of the family lived. The Yamato-no-Kami branch was technically the "main" branch of the family, holding the title of "Vice Governor" (Shugo-Dai). The day-to-day running of the administration had been left to the "Vice Vice Governor" ((Mata Shugo-Dai), who were the "Ise-no-Kami" branch, and who lived in Iwakura Castle.
When did they move from Orizu to Iwakura?
